Cropping

Depending on the size canvas you have ordered, we may have to artistically crop your image so it works with the proportions you have chosen. If you like, we can crop and reproduce only a portion of your photo. Please provide an accurate description of the intended cropping in the comments section of the order form.

Photo Adjustments, Enhancements and Cleanup
We will prepare your original photo or digital picture by first cleaning up dust and scratch marks. We will also check the color balance and contrast and make any adjustments that will improve the output of your image onto the canvas. For no additional charge, you can request an email proof to see the adjustments made, otherwise we assume that you will leave it to our best judgment.

Materials Used: Inks, Canvas and Coating
We use a heavyweight artist canvas specifically treated for transfer of your image using the highest quality archival inks (Ultrachrome) for graphic and fine art reproductions. Once transferred to the canvas your image is protected with a UV coating (Clear Coat) for enhancement of the color and protection of the image.

Gallery Wrapping
Gallery wrap is the way the canvas is stretched over the wooden supports. We use 1-1/2" supports to provide an attractive depth for the image. Your image "wraps" around the side of the supports and is stapled onto the back. This is a finished look that allows you to hang the piece without a frame. A gallery wrapped canvas can still be framed but keep in mind you will be covering some of your image if you do this.

Protective Coating
Your artwork is protected with "Clear Shield" an excellent UV protection that adds water and abrasion resistance to your canvas. In addition, Clear Shield enhances the color of the canvas when applied, so a typical matte black would have a slight gloss look and a much deep black color. Clear Shield is fast drying and very elastic coating that will not turn yellow, or oxidize. If you are planning on stretching the canvas yourself, we suggest you do this within a 10 day time period so you can take advantage of the elasticity of the canvas after the Clear Shield is applied.

NOTE: All of our canvas products include the Clear Shield Gloss protective UV coating in the pricing unless we are instructed differently.

Cleaning Your Canvas
The coating protects from fading (rated to last for 75 years) but even so, your canvas should not be put in direct sunlight. Clean your canvas with a soft dry cloth or feather duster.

ABOUT YOUR IMAGE

Digital Photography
If your digital camera is 3 mega pixels or higher and you have taken it at the highest
setting -we will be able to produce a good quality canvas for you. If you find that the image is only 72 dpi it is possible that your image will not reproduce onto canvas as a Photorealistic print but will work well with a technique applied.

File formats that work best are: JPG and BMP at 200-300 dpi

Scanning Tips
You can use a flat bed scanner to scan your image at 300 dpi resolution at 100% of its original size. Save the file in RGB mode using JPEG format with the highest quality setting and lowest compression. If you have chosen a size larger than the scan we can increase it up to 500% without losing any quality of the print.

If you have an old photo and don't have a scanner, you can have your photo scanned into a 300 dpi JPEG digital file on a CD at selected Kinko's stores, which you can then upload to us from your PC.
